GATE 2026 is a national-level entrance exam for admission into postgraduate engineering, technology, architecture, and science programs across India. Organized jointly by IISc and seven IITs, GATE scores are used for admissions, scholarships, and PSU recruitment. - Application Dates: Registration opens August 25, 2025. The last date for application (without late fee) is expected to be in late September 2025.
- Application Process: Apply online via the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) portal. Register as a new user with your name, email ID, and mobile number. Use the generated Enrollment ID and password to log in, fill details, upload documents (photograph, signature, category/degrees certificates as applicable), and pay the fee through net banking/debit/credit/UPI.
Choose examination city preferences and GATE subject paper (up to two papers allowed). - Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Science/Humanities (minimum 3 years) or currently in final year of such a program. Specific qualifying degrees and requirements as per official notification.
- Exam Mode: Computer Based Test (CBT), multiple sessions and subjects offered.
- Examination Cities: Candidates may choose up to three preferred cities in the same zone for the test.
- Documents Needed: Recent photo, signature, qualifying degree certificate, category certificate (if applicable), and valid photo ID.
